SUMMARY:OpenStack and the Software-Defined Supercomputer
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nOpenStack and the Software-Defined Supercomputer\n
 \nTelfer\n\nTwo long-held aspirations, "agile supercomputing" and "perform
 ant cloud”, are converging.  Supercomputing performance can now be achieve
 d in a cloud-native context.  Cloud flexibility ensures different classes 
 of workload may be targeted at the most effective resources.\n\nFor privat
 e cloud, OpenStack has become the de facto standard for IaaS.  This presen
 tation will introduce an open project to create private and hybrid cloud i
 nfrastructure specifically aimed at addressing the requirements of HPC.  T
 hrough pooled development effort and a continuous process of validation, m
 any complexities and overheads commonly associated with OpenStack operatio
 n are eliminated.\n\nBy combining extensive experience of both cloud and H
 PC infrastructure the functional gaps and performance bottlenecks of conve
 ntional cloud infrastructure have been identified and addressed, while mai
 ntaining the advantages in agility, flexibility and interoperability heral
 ded by the cloud-native era.\n\nThis presentation will provide technical i
 nsights, an update on the capabilities of modern OpenStack, and an opportu
 nity to become involved in a project aimed to deliver on the promise of cl
