SUMMARY:A Mixed Precision Multicolor Point-Implicit Solver for Unstructure
 d Grids on GPUs
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nA Mixed Precision Multicolor Point-Implicit Solver
for Unstructured Grids on GPUs\n\nWalden, Nielsen, Diskin, Zubair\n\nThis
paper presents a new mixed-precision implementation of a linear-solver ke
rnel used in practical large-scale CFD simulations to improve GPU performa
nce. The new implementation reduces memory traffic by using the half-preci
sion format for some critical computations while maintaining double-precis
ion solution accuracy. As the linear-solver kernel is memory bound on GPUs
, a reduction in memory traffic directly translates to improved performanc
 e. The performance of the new implementation is assessed for a benchmark s
teady flow simulation and a large-scale unsteady turbulent flow applicatio
 n. Both studies were conducted using NVIDIA® Tesla V100 GPUs on the Summit
system at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility.\n\nTag: Workshop R
