Workshop: DRBSD-5 Keynote Talk: Data Analysis through Advanced Scientific Computing Research at the Department of Energy
Abstract: This talk will provide an overview of the office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research within the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science, with a focus on the office’s plan to support future data analysis needs for big scientific data. This overview will begin with what the Office of Science is, where it fits within the ecosystem of funding the physical sciences, its portfolio of scientific user facilities, and its complex of national laboratories. Focus will then turn to the office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research, its research and facilities divisions, the role big scientific data plays, and the strategic vision for tackling the resulting issues and problems.
